New Chun Li "art"

All the character sprites for Street Fighter II (Turbo Remix) are being redone. Thus far it's been character posing or in action shots. Chun Li however, premiers with her losing animation. And as Capcom Digital points out "...you’ll notice some random splotches on her. That’s blood that has not been colored in yet." Right. Glad you didn't wait to release a colored picture that wasn't quite so ripe for bukkake references. Thanks for nothing, Udon. Click the link for the official post to see this art animated.

Japanese Ladies Talk to Their computers

and so do I.

Of the 410 women in their 20s or 30s surveyed, 40.5 percent said that they talk to their computer. Among the reasons given for conversing with the machines were: “I chat incessantly to my computer when I’m working,” from one woman, while another said, “I’ll get onto a ridiculous site and say something like ‘That was stupid’ out aloud.” Freezes in computers were a frequent trigger for some women to talk to them. Another finding was that 10.2 percent of women gave their computer a nickname, with common ones including “Mac-kun” and “Pasoko”, but more esoteric monikers including “Pudding” or “Princess”.

When I talk to my pc, it's usually profanity due to something going wrong with it. I also named my pc - it's Mystique, because it's giant, blue, and does what it wants to when it wants to.

Guilty Gear Accent core is coming to the PS2 & the Wii. How long till Wiimote injuries due to GG flailing?!

Perhaps the most notable changes are the re-recorded character voices, a first since Guilty Gear XX first debuted. Combined with new backgrounds and intro animations they'll certainly add a bit of freshness to a series that's been growing rather stale over the years.

The Wii version will also feature special waggle controls that allow you to use the Wii remote and nunchuck to pull off fighting moves, which will be novel for all of five minutes before the classic controllers get hooked up (via Kotaku)

Azumanga Daioh is Secretly Filthy

This won for best comedy @ MegaCon this year. NSFW with sound. Stick your headphones on and it's fine. All the filth is in the music.

Edit: This may not be the MegaCon version. The dates don't line up quite right.

Thursday recap

Ok, so I'm late today. Let's recap.

Suddenly - Minions! Thousands of Them!
Dynasty Warriors & Samurai Warriors had a kid - and it's Orochi Warriors. 77 characters to choose from. Kotaku is less than impressed. As for me, my socks are rocked. IGN has pictures.

Scary Bewbs Ahoy!
Jessie has boobs, and now, James has boobs... just not in America (damnit Kotaku, you posted this no less than 30 seconds after I did. Yes I know it's hella old.)

Rio Natsume's boobs absolutely cannot be real. There is no way (nsfw due to....boobs, duh)

A New Hero Appears!
Although Miss Universe was up for this role, Erico Tamura has snagged a new role on season 2 of Heroes. She'll play a Japanese princess. +10,000 points if they squeeze an "oh ho hoh hoh" laugh out of her. Unlikely, but if they did I may drop dead from the glee.

I'm CONFUSED about B:
B Jenet - maybe the announcer wasn't saying it wrong in KOF Max Impact 2:
Her name is B. Jenny, she is 5'5, weights 108 pounds, and has type AB blood. She likes martial arts, nail art, and violating territorial waters. She dislikes diesel-powered ships. Her special skills are synchronizing her stomach's clock to within one minute of real time. Her nickname is "the Corsair Under the Skull and Crossbones." Actually Jenny Behrn, daughter of the Behrn family, came to loathe her luxuriant but tedious life and left home to form the Reeling Knights pirate band, which vowed to steal for the weak and poor. In her dress with its skull-and-crossbones pattern, B. Jenny plays the role of a grown woman, but she can't avoid her childish tendencies! (via Kid Nemo)
Huh. If it's B Jenny, then why do they keep listing her as Bonne Jenet? It's okay, because we all call her "B" anyway.

In the Marvel U.
Don't lose your X-Men Endangered Species checklist. It's already started - the one shot dropped yesterday.

I thought I knew it all about Rogue, until I read this. I had no knowledge of the Rogue/Dazzler beef. I am an unworthy fangirl.

If you'd like your head to explode in a mass of alternate universe/retcon confusion, read about Pennance/Hollow. (all I wanted to know was how she ended up in The Loners #3!)

Ok, Hecatomb - Rogue absorbed it, but it's a giant metal ball fulla minds. Since when can she absorb non-humanoid things? Retcon much, Marvel? (we are comic book geeks, we notice these things!) Cable is still trying to fight the Hetacomb but he loses. The alien kills and consumes the mummudrai and is about to eat Cable when Cannonball saves him. Rogue flies in and finds out that the alien feeds on and is made up of minds, and she knows exactly what she has to do. She goes inside it and absorbs the 8 billion minds that make up the Hetacomb. All that's left of the living weapon is a floating bomb, but it's still a huge danger. (via comicvine)

Funimation Finally Working on Witchblade!

"This is one of those heard from someone" rumors. Funimation is currently recording dubs for the Witchblade anime! Finally ~ they've been sitting on this forever. Whether we get the 'uncensored' dvd version or the milder(ish) tv version, I don't know. Official site has a trailer, a wallpaper and nothing more.

The "Hot Water Jiggle"

More late night Japanese tv "goodness". Not work safe, mmmkay? The objective of [the game is to] get into the tub of hot water and get the girls to jiggle. I can't figure out who the joke is on in this game show...the girl jiggling on the seat or the idiot immersing himself in hot water to get her to jiggle. Both probably. For those that can' t do the Celcius to Farenheight conversion : 51C is 123.8F. Also, I swear I have seen that stool at Brookstone in the mall.
-via JapanSugoi, who never lets me down.
Heisei Democracy reports that a Samurai Spirits (Samurai Showdown) Iroha figure is up for preorder. Not half as bad with the clevage as one would think, although maid outfits with thongs can be disturbing. Priced at 7140 yen (aprox 57 usd).

Tekken 6 / KOF Info

SDTekken (in the 06/19/07 update) has more new info on Tekken 6 - including a (partial) moves change list, images, but more importantly, video. Behold the wonder. Majoria's News also linked to some cool T6 images from gamewatch. Some of the new silly stuff is shown in there too (why does Lei have a line of chickens walking past him?) *sigh* Makes me want to attempt to play Julia again ;_; (to the fanboys - click it for a rare Julia panty shot - and don't say I never gave you anything)

Cyberfanatix has high res scans of promo pamphlets given out at a KOF :MI Regulation A location test.

Drink Evangelion Coffee, World Explodes

Kotaku, AnimeOnline, Anime News Network and many other anime news sites covered this so I thought I should mention it. (Kotaku has the best pictures though) Evangelion coffee was released back in the day when Eva first came out. It faded away, to bring forth new fan drinks/swag. However, with the Eva series (remake?) coming up this summer, venading machines in Japan are now stocking Eva coffee again.

"The drinks will be sold as individual cans and in cases of 6 cans for 945 yen (about 8.50 US Dollars). The cases include two cans of black coffee with "Don't Drink This" printed on the can, three cans of "LCL" Orange Juice, and a coin bank as an added bonus to people who buy the case."
-a.n.n

Each can seems to have different characters on it. I'm not going to lie to you. I'm not the biggest Eva fan around but if these show up at conventions like the FF Potions did, I'l pick up some Asuka coffee. Well, just as long as they guarantee that it won't cause you to hallucinate and strangle people you love (omg! vague spoiler!) Asuka image snagged here.

Best She Hulk Reference Ever

So why does Jen/ She Hulk not remember having sex with Juggernaut in UNCANNY X-MEN #435? My guess? Mutant Growth Hormone-laced Rohypnol.

Either that, or it was the Impossible Man in drag.

Win. American comics will not be ignored today, apparently.

Nana License Rumor

From AnimeOnline:
VIZ sent out a press release announcing their highlights for the 2007 Licensing International Expo, and tucked into the announcements were the extremely popular anime Nana, about two girls who share an apartment and the same name, along with several kids shows:... The reason we're unsure about who has the license is that this release covers VIZ titles in both the U.S. and Europe, and it wouldn't be the first time VIZ has given something Europe but withheld it from the U.S. (see: Honey & Clover).

I don't think they can afford the license, but maybe I'm just being catty about it.

I have no idea if this is sfw or not. It's supposed to be.
Damn thing made me laugh out loud in class.

X-FACTOR #23
Written by Peter David
Pencils & Cover by Pablo Raimondi
"The Isolationist" Part 3 of 4.
Layla Miller is in over her head, and her survival hinges on the one man who wants to see her dead. The plan of Josef Huber, the Isolationist, is revealed, but X-Factor may not be around to stop it. And Monet and Siryn take an elevator. FEATURING ENDANGERED SPECIES Chapter 11 - Guest starring FORGE, Beast examines the effect that M-Day had on alternate futures via Forge’s technology. And the future looks bleak!

Monet and Siryn take an elevator. Right. This is supposed to excite the reader why? Looks like more filler for the poor buggers following the Endangered Species storyline. Also, let's kill some pages and see yet another bleak, lifeless future. Good plan Beast. Way to kill time & pages.

NEW X-MEN #42 Written by CHRISTOPHER YOST & CRAIG KYLE Pencils & Cover by SKOTTIE YOUNG "CHILDREN OF X-MEN" Mutants are now an endangered species, and the New X-Men realize that they may well be the LAST X-Men! After the events of "Quest for Magik," several of the kids have been changed forever, and the Astonishing X-Men are finally taking some time to get to know their students. But after everything the team has been through… who even wants to be an X-Man? New powers, new relationships, new team members, all on the road to the X-event of the decade! Part 1 (of 2) FEATURING ENDANGERED SPECIES Chapter 12 Tired of dead ends with current mutants, Beast turns to the family that has sired the most mutants on Earth—the Guthries. The family that produced two X-MEN and may hold the key to save the mutant race.

Translation: Let's jump from one massive crossover to another! At this point, I'm wondering if Endangered Species is just a tack on to the end of each books. Wouldn't that be irritating? Also, the Guthries? *sigh* I should be happy it's not the Summers clan anymore. (a family that also produced 2 Xmen- Cyclops & Havok, not to mention useless ol Vulcan.)

SUB-MARINER #4 (of 6)
Written by MATT CHERNISS & PETER JOHNSON
Penciled by PHIL BRIONES
The U.S. government is after Namor–public enemy #1! A terrorist attack perpetrated by an Atlantean sleeper cell has killed 800 innocent civilians…but who gave the order? While the Sub-Mariner scours the surface for answers, Tony Stark, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., tries to prevent a seemingly inevitable war between Atlantis and the surface world…but even Iron Man can’t stop the government from unleashing their secret weapon on Namor–the Thunderbolts! With extreme prejudice!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$2.99

The Thunderbolts! Because we didn't want to throw anyone useful at him! Was the term 'with extreme prejudice' really necessary? Really?

The only interesting/ non painful bits coming up are:

MYSTIC ARCANA: SISTER GRIMM Written by C. B. CEBULSKI & DAVID SEXTON Penciled by PHIL NOTO & ERIC NGUYEN Bestowed with powers she barely understands, how does one of Marvel's youngest magic users, Sister Grimm from Runaways, deal with her newfound mystic abilities... when all she wants to do is be a normal teenager?! As her parents' past comes back to haunt her, Nico Minoru learns that there may be more to her magical lineage than even she could have imagined. One look in the sacred Black Mirror sends Nico looking for answers she may not like discovering. PLUS: The final chapter of Ian McNee’s quest. Will he possess the four cornerstones of the magic? What shocking revelation does he learn about his past and what does this mean to the Marvel Universe?

I don't rightly give a gamn about ol Ian, but any Runaways extras are good to me.
and also X-Men 203 - if only for the cover (click image to enlarge) - we see you, Mystique!

Burst Angel on iTunes

Fuinimation tells me (via email mass mailing...woo!) that Burst Angel will be available on iTunes on June 19th. Cost? $1.99 per episode, or $38.99 for the entire series (24 eps, 600 min.) Funi describes the show as "sci-fi mech battle show, mixed with a strong dose of the spaghetti western".

Tokyopop / HG / manga news

Tokyopop has lost their collective mind and decided to licenced 38 (thirty eight!) new titles. Check at good old ANN for the complete list. Of note: DNAngel art book for the bishounen and Manga Sutra - Futari H - because apparently no one told Tokyopop that this title is hentai - I eagerly await the fall out when some soccer mom's hobotaku reads this in Waldenbooks and mom bellows LAWSUIT.

Hard Gay/Razor Ramon cannot be stopped! (unless you're a wrestler girl that pops out of eggs, but anyway) Japan Probe (no pun intended) has reported that a Hard Gay manga will be released (in Japan) soon! What's it about you ask? Well... "Woman-hating Hard Gay will team up with a nice-bodied female named Seiko Honda and investigate the case of serial rapes occurring at a female dormitory." I can only hope that I find this at a con in the next few years. I shall save a spot for it on the bookshelf.

In a tiny, easily skipped blurb, AnimeOnline notices that Fushigi Yuugi creator Yuu Watase will create her first Yaoi manga, entitled Sakuragari, for mangabon Comic Rinku.

Fujoshi Idol Band

AnimeOnline reports that a new idol band called Fujoshi Sisters has been formed. The group of six women - consisting of Yoko Inui, Chiaki Kyan, Yuka Kyomoto, Erika Ura, Yuka Konan, and Suzanne - is due to put out its first single, "GO! FIGHT! Fujoshi Sisters," this January.
...
Awesome. For you poor buggers that don't know what Fujoshi are - Dark Diamond explains - with video clips even.

Edit: Note to self - Must name Guitar Hero 3 band after this group.

Urutorii figure

Kotobukiya releases a lovely Urutorii pvc figure. I have not watched Utawarerumono, but I'm a sucker for figures with wings.

Peter David coming back to She Hulk

Peter David's run on the book will begin 'three months after WWH ends'. Maybe, just maybe, she'll stop sleeping around and the book will improve. I've not been impressed with the storylines lately. In addition, World War Hulk knocks the urge for litigation right out of her. That sucks. Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzburg & Holliway (GLKH) was a fun little world they created for her. I sincerely hope they explain why she hates to be Jen.

PAD: She won't be directly involved with GLK&H; instead she's going to be attached to a related business concern. And she won't be lawyering, no. I look at it this way: Dan did such a fantastic job with stories involving Jen as a lawyer that if I try to imitate what he did, it's going to come across as watered down Dan Slott stories. I simply can't do it better than he did. I think it will be better for Jen and for the readers to take her in a substantively different direction...but, again, one that flows naturally and logically from what's gone before. I'm not going to assign her an arbitrary mission or situation in life simply for the purpose of doing something different. Once you read it, you will say, "Oh, okay, that makes sense based upon what's gone before."

Phoenix Wright comedy skit.

Not made by me, I just appreciate the humor.

Happy Fazha's Day, everyone!
