Fightan Gaems

EVO was this weekend and I was mesmerized with the live stream. Well, the parts of it that were watchable. MvC2 was not one of those. But it's okay, I've seen Magneto, Storm, Capt Commando and Sentinel fight before.

Daigo "the Beast" Umehara won the Street Fighter 4 championships and was classy as usual. Justin Wong needlessly showboated as usual. Here's an interview with Daigo.

A French gentleman by the name of Malek (profile in French here with unflattering pic) won the Soul Calibur 4 tournament with Ivy. Generally, I am not a fan of Ivy but I was definitely rooting for him to win against the hoards of (broke ass combo) Hilde. Also, his mastery of the command throws was simply amazing. Well done, Malek!

I didn't get the details on the Blaz Blue winner, other than that they won with Noel and that they only play rushdown characters and girl characters. Well, me too. More details if I can dig them up.

KOF12's Twitter feed has finally linked to some high resolution KoF 12 footage! Yay! I love the flashing bulbs that twinkle in the BG of this stage.

MK vs DC G4 review

It gives Wonder Woman the rage.

G4's X Play has reviewed Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. It's just about what I expected. Good to hear that the fighting is a little smoother.

The video didn't want to embed soooo, click this link.

MK vs DC - Catwoman Confirmed

Kotaku knows all, and shares all.

They've essentially verified Catwoman and have pictures to prove it. (although calling Catwoman a villain is utterly off the mark)

That leaves Prototypical Super Hero, Mystical Super Hero, Amazon Queen, Crazy Villain, and Military Superhero among the unidentified generic descriptors of DC Universe kombatants.

Kotaku commenters are calling as follows:

Prototypical Super Hero - Shazam or Superman (Supes already announced?)
Mystical Super Hero - Zatanna or Dr Fate
Amazon Queen -Wonder Woman (no s**t, Sherlock)
Crazy Villain - Joker
and Military Superhero - one of the 8,000 Green Lanterns, likely Jordan or Stewart

Catwoman, Wonder Woman AND Zatanna? Urgh, I have to start saving my pennies. They got me by the throat on this one.

Nerd Moment: (for those reading Wonder Woman right now) WW can't use her lasso on most of the Outworld guys, especially Scorpion, because lasso on the soulless is BAD TIMES.

Ooh ooh, cheap excuse for Lego Batman video clip!

Labor Day Weekend Blog Dump!

Hello, good evening, Happy Labor Day weekend and all that.

Cosplay? Why yes, it is.
Cyberfanatix has some awesome KOF 2006 (aka Maximum Impact 2) cosplay pictures. (didn't that B Jenet outfit have black wings painted on the back? I'm just saying, if you go into that much detail, see it through.

Danny Choo has a great Sailor Moon group and one terrifying Sailor Mercury. 0_0!

comics
the good:
First few pages of She Hulk 21 are up at CBR. (it's there, keep scrolling) I want to hug Dan Slott.
Madam Mirage 3 review/preview @ ComicVine.
the bad:
X-Men 203 preview up at ComicVine. Please, make Ramos go away...
Amazons Attack #6 is released. An awful ending to an awful miniseries. To quote the internet(s), it is made of suck and fail. Someone hates Gail Simone.

insert credit found Nodame Cantabile DS on sale at play asia for 15 bucks. Do want. I think it shall be mine. Yes.

VS System
Marvel Legends expansion for the VS system is on the way! Yeah!
Shuffle and Cut has a card list with all the text except the costs...so there's no telling which characters are really worth your while yet.
Another Rogue for my collection & She Hulk has some fantastic flavor text. Savage Beatdown is getting reprinted, but it's still a rare. Weak.

wtf?
They're making a live action porn with Lucky Star characters. Wait....I just threw up in my mouth a little. :0~

Old Grandma Hardcore is playing Overlord. I don't know anything about it as I am a scrub without a 360, but she still makes me laugh. Sound is nsfw. She drops the f bomb about 500 times.

VS system tcg

metagame.com has expanded/rebuilt their VS section as VsSystem.com
Some previews of the redesigned cards from the upcoming set (Marvel Legends) are posted at the new site. Unfortunately, they're taking a page from Legend of the Five Rings and having some exclusive cards only available through tournaments and point redemption. To view the first tournament exclusive cards, check here. I know I could use two of those cards in my sad (yet undying!) X-men deck. I think this is an awful idea that promotes money decks. These cards are going to end up on Ebay for inflated prices almost immediately. In a tiny bit of happier news, that new Jean Grey card just makes me giggle. (click to enlarge and see stats)

More info on the "exclusive" cards:
