She Hulk Canclled

Again.
I place the blame firmly on PAD's awful run on this book. She Hulk: Emo Bounty Hunter never worked. If it takes cancellation to de-emo-fy her, then so be it.
Some epic information and rage here. Initially found at When Fangirls Attack.

RIP, BoP

The Onion's AV club verifies some rumblings I have heard around the internet (and apparently on an episode of AotS I missed) that Birds of Prey, Nightwing and Robin are all getting canceled. I'm hoping this is a gimmick for RIP and drops new issue #1s for people to jump in on. I think BoP was already cancelled once, so I can't lose hope yet.

Infinite Mario Kart item hack
Nintendo Wii Fanboy posted a video showing a player with infinite blue shells. I clicked on it to see the related videos. I thought the blue shell hack was only for blue shells. However, I found videos for infinite Bullet Bills as well as Infinite Lightning. Obviously, these are hacks. I am personally not a fan of hacks. I play to have fun, not for the singular goal of winning everything evar omg.
The hacks come through a program called Ocarina, which in turn is located in a hack channel called The Homebrew Channel. I thought about linking to these sites but I'm not a huge fan of Wii hacking/modding, so I'm just going to say Google it if you must.

Witchblade Manga Up for an Award?

Kindly file under WTF and also, Do Not Want.
ANN reports that the Witchblade manga has been nominated for a Harvey Award.
Uh...what?
This is one of the worst manga I have ever read.
I'm fairly desensitized to negative portrayals of women in comics and manga but this one was SO bad that I couldn't overlook it. Oversexualized is an understatement. In addition to all the typical kink stereotype characters (lolita, schoolgirl, librarian, glasses girl - combine as needed) Panty shots abound (and these girls are PACKING. Jeez!) There's a point where it looks as though Takeru (current bearer in the manga) is taking the Witchblade out of her vajayjay. I never thought I'd witness anything that made Agent Aika look tame.
The story was weak, the main character was fairly useless when not in Witchblade form and the ending was incredibly abrupt. Really awful overall. Before you ask, yes I gave it a chance. I read the entire thing. The story gives you this feeling like it's surely going to go somewhere, anywhere, soon, and yet it never does. (I've verified this feeling with others that have read it)
I hope this doesn't win a dang thing - and don't bother reading it yourself either, unless you just want it for the ecchi art.

Do Want vs Do Not Want

Facebreaker video posted @ Kotaku - I think it looks really fun. Naturally all the commenters poo-pooed it as it was not realistic enough. Go play Fight Night then and leave this one to me. File under: Do Want.
People in Tokyo want Krispy Kreme doughnuts and are willing to wait two and a half hours in line to get some. I love those doughnuts, but wow, that's excessive. The last thing I waited that long for was a seat on the Spider Man ride @ Universal.

There is a picture of a Skrull Elektra posted at CBR, but no mention of it in the corresponding article. File under: Do Not Want.
Mildly stale news (only a few days, still very digestible)
There will be a 320 page Street Fighter art book released by Udon. Yours for 80 dollars. A bit steep but I am sure that it will be top quality art, design and paper stock. You can pre-order it here, Daddy Warbucks. :3

X-Men Manga : Back Away Slowly

Juuuuust found this on Japanator.com.
Re: X-Men manga -They've turned Beast into Totoro. Seriously. This will be a disaster of epic proportions.
Scoot over to Japanator.com to see new art from the X-Men: Misfits manga series. Thank gawd they seem to have forgotten Rogue exists. So thankful for small favors.
Note to Del Rey manga - this is NOT the way to bring comic book readers to manga or vice versa. You are just making all the geeks really irritated. *facepalm*

I read some comics last night
Green Arrow and Black Canary #5
Judd Winick just likes to torture his characters. It's just one disaster to another. The sense of suspense leaves me with an eternal Murphy's Law type feeling. Instead of being brought in with suspense, I just feel like 'Oh what's happening to them now?"
New Exiles #2
I would like off the ride please. It's starting to nauseate me.
The inevitable Romy pairing won't be avoided, not even with a Earth 1009 Rogue and a Earth 6706 Gambit, who is the son of a randomly black Namor and Susan Storm. WTF. W.T.F. I think I just grew out of Claremont's writing style. Oh, and Rogue keeps callling Gambit "G". I think it's supposed to come off sounding tough but it just rings 'fake gangsta' in my head.
Salvation Run #4Talking ape beats other talking ape about the head and face with brain in jar. Yeah, the cover pretty much sums it all up right there. 0_0;
IGN.com loved it. I didn't.
X-Force #1
I am giving this book a second chance, if only for the amazing art of Clayton Crain. Casting 'crazy religious people' as villians is a bit old. Plus, they pussyfoot around almost all religions except Christianity. I know we don't have a lock on crazy religious nutjobs. I am vaguely curious to where the story is going, if only for Rahne's explanation of her participation in the team.

Opinion: New Exiles 2 Solicitation
Note: Incoming bias against Gambit. Sorry, I just can't stand that character. If you like our pink underwear as outerwear, floppy haired, "ragin' cajun" then you should probably just skip this post entirely.Majoria's News reported that Marvel's solicitations for February 2008 (ack!) have been posted here.
Of interest (and I use this term loosely), New Exiles issue 2. Here, I'll repost the text for you.
NEW EXILES #2
Written by CHRIS CLAREMONT
Penciled by TOM GRUMMETT
Cover by MICHAEL GOLDEN
The Exiles have barely arrived in a new dimension before they're struck by disaster! Sabretooth, Psylocke and Mystiq find themselves in the middle of a long-running conflict between the two most powerful figures on the African Continent, the Black Panther and Ororo. As for Rogue, her fate ends up in the hands of a young man who calls himself Gambit - but if you think that tells you what to expect from this character and this story, try again! He needs Rogue to help him save his parents - Oh, and did we mention he breathes water?
32 PGS./ Rated A…$2.99
How to make Gambit even more stupid and/or irritating than he is now?! Turn him into Aquaman, naturally. *headdesk* Claremont used to be my hero. I have no idea wtf has happened to him since...well, since X-Treme X-Men. ;_;
Also, I can't say this for sure, as I am not up to date with the books and may be completely off base; but it really seems as though they take these alternate universes (Ultimate and such) and just retell the same old stories for new audiences. Why not take the opportunity to really change things up? (although Pompous!Rogue in NE has promise) I know in Ultimate X-Men they coupled up Storm and Beast, which was neat, but stuck Rogue with Gambit's powers. Can I please get a break from the "Romy" pairing?
...
Please?

No Stereo for YOU! (Wii GH3 owners)
So digg has dugg (hur!) up some evidence that Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii is not in stereo. It comes out of both speakers, but both speakers are sending out that groovy mono sound. That's no good. Also, Judy Nails has a giant pumpkin head.
Give me back my Pandora!

Bad Ideas from House of M
NOTE: In an interview post-House of M, writer Brian Michael Bendis revealed that he originally intended for Rogue to permanently absorb the powers of Genis-Vell and for her to become Marvel’s next cosmic powered character. However, the idea was nixed as the current writers and editors of the X-titles didn’t like taking Rogue in this direction, so Rogue only temporarily kept Marvel’s powers for the House of M series.
I don't know who was on the book that rejected that idea, but I'd like to buy them flowers and chocolates. Have Rogue floating around with Quasar, Silver Surfer and that lot? No, thank you.

Go Away, Jessica Biel
First there were rumors of Jessica Biel being up for the lead in the Chun Li street fighter movie. This was ridiculous because she's not Chinese, and Chun Li is very much so.Now in a further attempt to defile my geekdom, rumors abound that she wants to play Wonder Woman in the upcoming Justice League film.
No Jessica. NO. *swat* Go away, whitebread lady.
I know darn well I won't get any Greek actresses for our favorite amazon in the same way they keep trying to cast Chun Li as a white girl. Can we at least get someone vaguely ethnic to play this role? Perhaps someone with naturally dark hair? Am I asking for too much here?
I'll cast my vote for Salma Hayek, even though she's currently preggers. It doesn't film for a while, she'll do fine. She's lovely, shapely, and can do action films. She may have to work on the accent though.

Doki Doki...again.
*sigh*
Not So Fresh Blog Dump
Some of these news bits may be a couple days late. Sometimes irl gets in the way of my hobbies. Comics!
Comic Book Resources has a link to the X-Men "family" solicitations for December. At a glance, Messiah CompleX seems to be the Madrox & Layla Miller show. Layla, you know...she knows stuff... about stuff....right. I have this sudden urge to just wait for the trade.
There is also a link to the Marvel Atlas. (it's there, keep scrolling) This is far more interesting. I love seeing where things are set, especially when the places may or may not exist. Definitely on the list to pick up.
Shulkie.com rocks my socks. They have an image of the variant cover for She Hulk 22. I find it to be quite bad ass. They also have some screen shots of Jen in the Fantastic Four animated series. (which you can watch on youtube here)
File Under: Do Want
The otaku has a Tencho Muyo Ryo Ohki dvd box set review.
This will be mine. It is just a matter of time.
Kid Nemo Company has a cool T-Elos figure. - Sculpts like this really make me want to play the Xenosaga series - but I've been attempting to find time to play FF12 for roughly 6 months now with no luck.
Kotobukiya has a Catwoman figure (recent outfit with the goggles) up in their Batman series. I could do without the ass to camera picture, but they know what audience they're aiming for with that.
File Under: LOLWHUT.
The crane machine has evolved! It is a robocrane and seems far more fair than all other crane machines combined. Japan only, natch. Check out Danny Choo dot com for the video.
There is an eroge called "Period". I can't make this stuff up, folks.

Xmen X-plode..har har har....

So. After Xmen 204, the "Blinded by the Light" storyline ends (aka We Got Our Asses Kicked by the Marauders and all Rogue got was SHOT) - then Messiah CompleX will begin. After THAT, the fecal matter hits the oscillating unit. X-Men Disassembled will begin. It's a X-books crossover and everyone is getting shuffled and some books are allegedly getting dropped entirely.
Spoilers(?) ahead - for quite a few months ahead - it's okay though, you'll probably forget before then.
There's an article about it up at Newsarama and I must tell you, it makes me rather cranky. Allow me to quote and respond in a proper fangirl fashion. I'll be in blue :)
Surprise, surprise, Cable is alive and gets his own book! (and Deadpool loses his title to make room).
----------------------------------
Alex Alonso: X-Force is a new ongoing series debuting in February 2008. The artist is Clayton Crain. We’ll announce the writer later
Since when is X-Force new? I must say I'll be glad that the steaming pile that is XFactor gets an overhaul. (Wolfsbane will be on the XForce team) When your heroes are degraded to the point where they fight street musicians, something is royally f**ked up.
drama queen...
NRAMA: Got to ask, the black and gray uniforms. Not only does it kind of marry the Morrison/movie era and Ultimate costumes along with the classic more colorful superhero-ish looks, but it suggests a tone, a flavor perhaps never seen in an mainline Marvel Universe X-title, but maybe that can be chalked up to Crain’s distinct style..?.
AA: The colors of the uniforms reflect the tone of the series and the team’s mission statement.
Go write about it on your journal - emo is the new astonishing. ~_~;
WHAT. Endangered Species anyone? House of M? Come the f**k on! There are crossovers aplenty running through the X Books. Crossovers make me break out in giant losses of cash. They're generally not worthwhile. The last time I dropped American comic books entirely was way back in Phalanx Covenant. All the fangirls/boys threaten to drop titles when stuff they don't like goes down - but it looks like Rogue is losing her team either way and add a Summers infested crossover after that? DO NOT WANT.
NRAMA: How was/is this crossover being organized? Was each writer given an element or two that they needed to touch in their title, or was a larger storyline laid out, and people chose what parts they wanted to tell?
NL: It started with the basic idea that actually came up in a retreat a few years ago, once the “No more mutants” thing came about.
Because No More Mutants/M Day/ Wanda's Gone Batshit Crazy was the best idea Evar. /sarcasm.
This was the best thing that storyline ever spawned.
NRAMA: The X-verse post-Messiah CompleX vs. the X-verse pre-Messiah CompleX. How different will it be?
NL: Completely. And that’s not just a company line. I swear. This will be the single biggest seismic shift in about 20 years of X-Men stories. This changes everything. In fact, who’s to say that there will even be a group of people who can call themselves X-Men when it’s done. What if I told you there wouldn’t even be an X-Men after the event?
What if I told you we're tired of all this "omg most important story evar! Every.Single.Arc.
