Utada + Seacrest? =Wut.

Heard about this on the radio last night. Utada has some video up on RyanSeacrest.com
Yeah, I know, it boggles my mind too, but it's clever marketing.

Some mini rants:
I am so tired of them calling her The Japanese *add pop star here*. Now it's Madonna, where it was formerly the Japanese Britney Spears. It would not surprise me if that offended Utada greatly. "Yeah, you're like the nutjob, drug addicted, head shaving pop star we all like to mock! Yeah!" Also, could Ryan have greeted her in a more offensive way? Crikey, just punch her in the eye next time and maybe we'll think you're less of a racist d-bag. She's from Japan, not outer space.

Utada In Store "Tour" Postponed

Quote from Utada.com

Utada, who is set to release her new album This Is The One on May 12th, has been forced to postpone her promotions to launch the album along with a series of in-store appearances. The 26 year-old artist, who had planned to arrive today May 11th to promote and drive the album release, has been diagnosed with an acute case of left relapsing peritonsillitis.

If you were wondering what peritonsillitis IS, The Free Dictionary says it is: Inflammation of the connective tissue above and behind the tonsil.

Have Some Media

Lots of new stuff for you to see and hear these days. As everyone and their grandma already knows, Marvel vs Capcom 2 is being ported to XBLA and PSN. All of the obligatory 'Take you for a ride', Mahvel Baybee and Curleh Mustache (audio NSFW on that link) jokes have already been made.

I'm more excited about Garou coming out on the 360 myself. Hope it makes it to the US.

And some good news for your ears. AnimeVice now has a podcast (called a Squadcast)
So far, short eps, but hey, we've all got too many dang podcasts

Zombies on the Lawn

My friend told me about the video for PopCap's upcoming game Zombies vs Plants. There was a music video that will eat your brains and it lives here. (thanks Freyhon & Kit!)

However! PopCap has made a new video, starring a Zombie Temp Worker. Behold!

If that wasn't good enough, there's a Japanese cover to the song as well! Uraniwa ni Zombies ga. Equally catchy to the original! (apparently there's no Japanese word for Zombie?!)

HalCali - It's Party Time

Random PV time.

I want my trips to the grocery store to be more like this. (btw, it is impossible to stay sad if you listen to Halcali. Yep.)

Silversun Pickups

Another music tidbit that I'd like to share, and is only mildly geek related - is that Silversun Pickups is also releasing a new album, entitled "Swoon". Their previous album, Carnavas, never made it out of my iPod - and that is saying something, because I am really susceptible to overplay of music. If you preorder the digital release on iTunes, you will get the bonus track "Currency of Love". They are an amazing band that I got the chance to see play live two years ago. Please support them if you are a fan, or give a listen for something cool and new if you are not.

There are three Silversun Pickups songs available for Rock Band - Lazy Eye (comes with Rock Band 2 I believe) , Melatonin and Well Thought Out Twinkles.

upcoming news is this- two songs from their newest album entitled Swoon will be available for download just before the release of the new album via Guitar Hero: World Tour.

ok this song is unrelated but I love this video.

Utada in top 25 on iTunes

Jpop singer Utada Hikaru, just known as Utada in the US has released her second album in the US. It was released on iTunes
"on March 25 and ranked #19 among all albums" The video for Come Back to Me is available for free for a short time. Click the link on Utada's homepage to get the video. http://www.utada.com/news/ (go to news item "This is the One is here!")

The album itself is only $7.99. A non digital copy will be available
May 12, 2009. So stop your piracy for a minute and go and support Utada's most recent release. If fans don't support her, then we will likely never get to see her play shows stateside. Go spend 8 bucks! That's round about the cost of a fast food combo meal and an ice cream cone! Skip it this week, (it's bad for you anyway and will give you GAS) and go buy this release!

Shokotan GET!

(Otaku Idoru) Shokotan has a nice little interview on the Japan Times website. I hope she's as nice as she sounds. Because if she wasn't, that would be a bummer of epic proportions.

Anyway! Read it here.

Tacky/ Wonderful Blue GH guitar

HSN.com is selling a "Hero ezGear" guitar. Works with Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I have no idea if it's worth a damn either way, but the blue is rather pretty isn't it?

ezGear ezJam guitar
Yours for 70 bucks.

(or at ezgear.com for 56 dollars. Tricky HSN!)

Freezepop

in honor of the cold (to me) weather in Florida, I give you the new Freezepop (Freeze, see what I did there?) video, Frontload. (also because I just found it on Destructoid) It occurs to me that had this band existed in the 80s, they'd be selling out arenas.

Of note: in the search tags the term Rockband is used. DLC? Likely! Free? Hopefully! Conjecture? Absolutely!

Soundtrack GET

Was at MetroCon today and one of the booths was selling "really old" cds/osts for 5 bucks each. Well, I am "really old" in otaku years, so I took advantage of their sale.

My haul?
Bakuretsu Hunters OST vol. 2
Nuku Nuku TV OST vol. 3
Megumi Hayashibara - Iravati

So, my otaku brethern - what's the connection between these cds? (keep in mind I did this by accident at first) Megumi Hayashibara! - the best voice actess evar. In addition to her cd, she voiced Nuku Nuku in Cat Girl Nuku Nuku and Tira in Sorcerer Hunters.

My subconscious is a good little shopper.

Blog Dump - Japanesque Link Edition

Hello, I've been collecting some links for you - they're of varying degrees of freshness. Some more fresh and delish, others rather old and chewy, but still delish.  Enjoy. :)

SD Tekken posts pics of Cung Le as Marshall Law from Tekken. (for the movie). I know I've seen this guy somewhere outside of MMA fighting.

ColourLovers blog shows designers and other creatives why Miyazaki is a Master of Color and Magic.

noituDownload.com's emails bring some good stuff sometimes!  They reccomended Noitu Love 2 Devolution (demo). From the screen shots, it seems pretty cool. I'll most likely download it and give it a go. From download.com's official blurb: The year is 2288. The city is protected by an organization called "The Peacekeepers League," and everything is swell except for that it's under attack by a robot army lead by professor Darnacus Damnation! Or is it?

(The blogger) Gia reports that D Gray Man has been licened by FUNimation. I've only seen the first episode of the anime, but the manga is AMAZING AND WONDERFUL and you need to read it right now.

ANN reports that HalCali will be performing in NY on June 1. I am trying not to drop dead from jealousy.

Heisei Democracy posts news that there will be a Tama-chan hug pillow released. I really could have done with any other character other than the tiny loli on this pillow. If you're going to be ecchi, at least make it someone who looks a bit older, like Miya-Miya.

In 'this had better not be like Minami-ke season 2' news, AnimeNation reports that Nodame Cantabile will be getting a season 2. < waluigi voice > SO GOOD! < /waluigi>

Potemayo Toy! DO WANT! (found at DannyChoo.com)

an old link, but still quite funny - Giant Boobs Save the Day! (well, win a court case, but save the day sounded better.)

Okay, I found more links than I thought I had. I'll be posting them over the next few days, time willing.

Britney "AMV"

So Britney Spears made a music video that has an anime feel to it. It's already been pulled from youtube for some reason, but I found it again (hooray google!) at TV Crunch. (who, in turn found it on myspace tv via Britney's Official MySpace page.) Sorry to break your hearts, but I find that this video is completely non-offensive. (hell, I even looked for the video to buy on iTunes) The song is just a standard pop/dance track and the animation isn't bad at all. Britney is still a strung out idiot, but media vultures picking on this is just silly.
