Samurai Showdown on VC

Initially, this made me happy, but for some reason the extra dollar's worth of points kind of annoys me. It's 900 points, as opposed to 800, which World Heroes went for. (KOF 94 is also up on the VC for 900 points.) Now this would be fine if those titles (and 14 others!) weren't available on SNK Arcade Classics Vol 1 for 20 bucks! So I could buy 2 on the VC, or 16 on the disk....

I won't lie, I want to download it something fierce, but I think I am going to redouble my efforts to find SNK Arcade Classics instead. *sigh* I asked my local EB Games about the game the day it got released but apparently they got TWO copies and someone came in and grabbed them both. Oh, and you can't preorder games like this, I've tried. If it's 2D, (and not on the DS) don't even bother asking. ;_;

KOF XII - so. pretty.

Kotaku reports that KOF XII is NOT cell shaded. All the sprites are hand drawn. Good grief.

The original character drawings were modeled into 3D. Those 3D models were then rendered back into 2D. That way the 2D characters could have a greater depth of motion. Since the 2D models were devoid of color and details, artists went through each character, background, image and painstakingly added colors and drew in details pixel-by-pixel on a tablet PC.

Kotaku reports that World Heroes Gorgeous will be coming stateside, although it will be renamed World Heroes Anthology.

For anyone interested in buying it, I strongly suggest you purchase it online somewhere because the local brick and mortar stores not only don't allow you to preorder these games (didn't allow me to preorder Fatal Fury Battle Archive OR KOFXI) they'll also give a dirty look for free and ask you to buy Halo 3.

The three they are starting off with are Fatal Fury, World Heroes and Art of Fighting. Naturally, being gamers, most Kotaku readers / posters complained. This was my two cents:

I think I'm the only on in here that's actually pleased to see some of these old fighters on the VC. They can only post so many rpgs and side scroller action/adventure games. Personally, I'm very excited about World Heroes. Would have preferred WH Perfect - but hey, they have to start somewhere.

For those that keep talking about these games being available on compilations, let me tell you, it is a giant pain to find the Fatal Fury Battle Archive vol 1.

KoF: MI - Reg A info

Cyberfanantix has released a translation of the character info for Xiaolon (for those of us that can't read the moon language) Word on the internet is that she is a Hsien Ko clone (Darkstalkers). I agree, but it makes me happy as I am a Hsien Ko fan and I don't see any new Darkstalkers games any time soon. (if ever.)

Majoria's News reports of site updates to the Regulation A site - new character info (Xiaolon) and two new videos posted.

Card Fighters DS recall...almost.

Snatched directly from Kotaku, who has inside sources that send them press releases.

We have been informed by Nintendo of America that the manufacturing of the replacement cartridges will be available on June 25th. At that time, SNK will ship the cartridges from Japan to our facility in the US and begin the process of implementing the recall. We should be able to begin providing replacements cartridges the first or second week of July. Information regarding the procedure on returning your defective cartridge to SNK will be posted on our website in the near future.

Card Fighters DS is so very...broken

Kotaku breaks my little heart with this one. Card Fighters DS "contains a game-stopping glitch that keeps you from being able to collect all the cards" The entire story is here - but essentially all games released in the US have a glitch that appears in the 2nd playthrough and crashes the game. The worst part is that all the A level and S level cards are after the glitch. Soooo, you'll never get the good cards. Ever. SNK is "looking into it" ...yeah.

Good grief, I hope there is a recall.

Best parts: end of Round 2- THE SHOE followed by laugh/taunt/cancel
That guy deserves a beating for playing as the boss character. That's just obnoxious.

B(onne) Jenet figure

Ok, so it looks like her breasts are trying to escape from her dress...er...straps but STILL - this figure is very cool. (as cool as her G&H costumes from KOF 06? Hardly, but what is?) I've been frothing over various B Jenet figures and statues lately. Running though Mission Mode with her isn't helping the obsession... ~_~; How can you not love a character that will stop what she is doing to beat someone with her shoe?
